I've finally launched my new photo website

June 12, 2016  •  18 Comments

Photography has long been an enjoyable hobby, allowing me to express my creativity in new ways. Just for fun, I began sharing my photos on Facebook and Instagram where I appreciated the growing number of likes, followers and comments.

Over time, people began asking to use my pictures for various personal or business purposes. Some wanted to publish them in brochures or on a company's website. Others wanted to decorate their homes or offices with my framed pictures.

I was flattered, but I honestly didn't know how to respond. I'd never taken pictures with the idea that I might sell or license them. To me, photography was a fun hobby, not a business. I had no systems in place to share or even sell my photos.

Then several people went a step further by encouraging me to publish a coffee table book of my photos. Others wanted to buy a pictorial calendar.

Honestly, I didn't know the best ways to share my pictures, so I sought the advice of friends and other photographers. I began exploring various options and several months ago I purchased the domain name duanehallockphotography.com. After a steep learning curve, I have finally completed the first phase of building my website, though it will be an ongoing work in progress.

On my website you will find my photos are available in a variety of options, including:

  • Digital downloads. The pictures may be downloaded to your computer or mobile device for either personal or commercial use.
  • Prints. Prints are available in several sizes and in various formats.
  • Framed or mounted pictures. The photos can be printed on canvas, on professional-quality photo paper or even on aluminum. Various framing options are also available.
  • Photo books. Two books featuring my photos will soon be available, and more may follow.
  • Calendar. The 2017 calendar is in the works, but it's a seasonal item and probably won't be of much interest to anyone until October or November.

Well, there you have it! My new website has launched. In case you're wondering, I am not quitting my full-time job as a corporate communicator. This is just an extension of my photography hobby.

Since I'm new to this, I would greatly value your advice and feedback as I continue to learn. Thank you for your ongoing encouragement and support.
